A stretch of the A34 is be closed for resurfacing works.

The road will be shut northbound over the weekend from the Chieveley Interchange in Berkshire and Chilton Interchange near Didcot, Oxfordshire, for work between Beedon and West Ilsley.

The closure will start from 21:00 BST on Friday and the road will reopen at 06:00 on Monday.

National Highways will put in place a "long diversion", external, which it apologised for but said it was the "most suitable option for both car and HGV drivers".

Other overnight work to upgrade two sections of safety barrier in the southbound verge near East Ilsley which started in June continues.

That means the road's speed limit has been cut to 40mph (63.4km/h) during the day with the work scheduled to finish on 19 July.
