The first phase of a town regeneration project has been completed.

Buckinghamshire Council planned to build a new Pavilion Quarter in Aylesbury, where the Gala Bingo stood, to create a "vibrant" area for businesses and visitors.

Work on the £5m project began in November 2024 after the bingo hall was demolished.

Part of the proposals - a walkway connecting High Street with The Exchange, to make it easier to walk around town - has now opened.

As well as creating new routes to navigate around town, the Pavilion Quarter will also include space with potential to host events.

It was named after a cinema that previously stood on the site.

The former bingo hall, which had stood empty for some time, had been in "poor structural condition", the council said before it was bulldozed.

It promised more improvements would be made across Aylesbury, including more power access for market traders and the restoration of historic buildings.
