A police investigation has begun after the body of a man was found in Hornsea.

Humberside Police said officers were called to an area close to Willow Garth at about 08:40 GMT and the death was being treated as unexplained.

In a statement, the force said its inquiries were continuing to establish the circumstances of the man's death.

Road closures were in place from Southgate to Rolston Road and drivers were being advised to avoid the area.

Det Insp Hannah Mcpeake said: "Whilst we are in the very early stages of our investigation, the man's death is being treated as unexplained.

"A scene guard remains in place and those in the area can expect to see an increased police presence."
