Town to host 'first-of-its-kind' disability event

Nick Wilson said the "fully inclusive" event was open to all

A town will host a combined music festival and disability event which organisers said was the first-of-its-kind.
NN Fest, organised by Mo Sounds, will take place at Delpare Abbey in Northampton from 12:00-22:00 BST on 20 September in collaboration with accessibility campaigner Nick Wilson.
Organisers said the festival would provide live music, while Mr Wilson's Access Outdoors organisation would provide "accessible adventure experiences".
Suzy Jones from Mo Sounds said: "It's really important to show people how outdoor festivals can make minor adjustments that make a huge difference to wheelchair users. This shouldn't be special and exciting, it should be the norm."
She said: "This partnership allows us to create something truly groundbreaking - where great music meets innovative accessibility, ensuring everyone can be part of the celebration at Delapre Abbey."
Mr Wilson has more than 40,000 followers on social media as the Disabled Adventurer, having spent 14 years in the Army before suffering a spinal injury.
Last year the 48-year-old, from Towcester, became the first disabled person to solo climb Yr Wyddfa, also known as Snowdon, using a purpose-built all-terrain powerchair.
He said: "Combining a disability event with a music festival is totally unique and takes it away from being a solely disabled and fairly formal affair, to a fully inclusive and fun event for everyone."

The Access Outdoors element of the event will feature an "all-terrain experience trail taking people around the Abbey grounds" and a showcase of the RockClimber which enabled Mr Wilson to achieve his Yr Wyddfa ascent.
There will be an accessible viewing platform, sensory chill spaces and all terrain mobility demos.
