A man has been let with a fractured cheekbone after he was attacked in a "nasty road altercation".

Hertfordshire Police said the incident involved the drivers of a black Volvo XC90 and a Silver Vauxhall Corsa in Hemel Hempstead at about 13:45 BST on Saturday.

The cars were being driven on Link Road from Leighton Buzzard Road, in the direction of Redbourn Road, when police said the Volvo driver continually "brake checked" the other driver.

When the cars were near The Melings, the Volvo driver stopped, got out and assaulted the victim.

When another man intervened, a second person got out of the Volvo and "got involved", the force added.

PC Jake Smith said: "This was a nasty incident in which the victim sustained a fractured cheekbone."

He appealed for the person who intervened to get in touch, along with anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage.
