School hosts TEDx talks to explore ideas

Pupils at a Guernsey school has hosted an event to share ideas and visions for the future.
The Ladies' College in St Peter Port said it had secured a TEDx Youth Licence, allowing them to hold talks on Friday to discuss important issues for their students.
Topics at the event included the impact of all-girls educational spaces and the need to amplify female voices, particularly in traditionally male-dominated fields, the school said.
TEDx talks are public-speaking events which aim to promote "research and discover ideas worth spreading".
'Empowering young women'
A spokesperson for the school said the event featured talks by students from its upper sixth, lower sixth and lower five grades, along with breakout sessions for further discussions.
Deputy principal Nick Dyson said: "The Ladies' College is committed to empowering young women, and this event gives them a powerful platform to speak on topics that matter to them."
