A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving in connection with a fatal crash.

Emergency services were called to Hucknall Road in Carrington, Nottingham, on Wednesday night where a 23-year-old man was pronounced dead after being hit by a car.

The 23-year-old suspect, of Bestwood, was also charged with driving whilst unfit through drugs, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis and dishonestly failing to disclose information, Nottinghamshire Police said.

He was remanded into custody and due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Saturday, the force added.

Police said two other men, aged 21 and 27 were also arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and had been released on police bail.

Sgt Mark Barker said: "This was a tragic incident that led to a young man’s death.

"Officers have been working continually over the last 38 hours to gather evidence, interview witnesses and secure these charges.

"Our investigation continues whilst his family remain supported by specialist officers."
