Man charged with murder after death of 67-year-old

A 36-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of another man in Stamford.

Emergency services were called to a first floor flat on Foundry Road just before 01:10 BST on Tuesday and found Nigel Booth, 67, seriously injured. He was given medical treatment but died.

Lincolnshire Police said Andrew Greengrass, of Foundry Road, Stamford, had been charged with his murder.

Mr Greengrass, who has been remanded, is due to appear before magistrates in Lincoln on Friday.

Det Insp Mel Rooke, senior investigating officer, urged people not speculate about what had happened.

He added: "I am very grateful to the people who have come forward and have helped with our inquires.

"I appreciate it is an unsettling time for those involved or who live within the local community."
