Deputies want 'more reasons' ahead of bank closure
- Published
Politicians have requested a meeting with a bank in Jersey which has announced the closure of one of its branches.
All of the parish representatives for St Brelade - four deputies and a constable - have written to Lloyds Bank about the closure of its Les Quennevais branch, set for 13 December.
The letter said they welcomed the "opportunity to hear more about the reasons for the closure".
In June, before the closure was announced, a government consultation on banking and accessing cash was launched as part of a review before the closure.
Deputies Moz Scott, Montfort Tadier, Helen Miles and Jonathan Renouf have joined Constable Mike Jackson to express concern about how the move might affect local people.
The letter said: "We would welcome the opportunity to hear more about the reasons for the closure and the work done to understand customer needs that informed the decision, and to discuss with you some of the issues raised by our constituents."
