Chester South and Eddisbury includes parts of Chester city centre south of the River Dee as well as villages including Audlem, Cuddington, Malpas and Tarporley.

Ms Stogia said it was "such an honour" to have been selected.

"I want to help build a strong sense of community in this constituency, identifying the common issues that unite suburban Chester with the towns and villages of Cheshire."

Eddisbury’s current MP is Conservative Edward Timpson who is standing down at the next election.

Meanwhile, City of Chester Labour MP Samantha Dixon is to stand for the seat of Chester North and Neston.
