Strongest man competition returns for second year

A strong man contest is returning to a city for a second year in a row.
Peterborough's Strongest 2024 will see competitors go head-to-head in weight lifting and truck pulling in the Cathedral Square on 10 August.
The event was organised by Peterborough Positive in partnership with Royals Gym.
Sam Fowler, founder of the gym, said the "historical backdrop" at last year's event helped attract hundreds of spectators.
He added: "We run several strongman competitions throughout the year and there’s something special about being able to stage the Peterborough one in the middle of the city centre."
The event has categories for men, women and juniors - who will compete with power stairs, axel presses and deadlifts.
Children can also take part in free athletic challenges at the event.
Pep Cipriano, chief operating officer at Peterborough Positive, said: “We're delighted to be bringing Peterborough's Strongest back to Cathedral Square for its second year.
"The event's expansion showcases our commitment to creating diverse, family-friendly experiences in the city centre and we’re looking forward to an even bigger turnout this time."
