Gardaí (Irish police) and ambulance services attended the scene in the Tirchonaill Street area at about 19:50 local time on Wednesday evening.
Two women and a man, who are aged in their 60s and were sitting in the area outside the pub, were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital.
Gardaí (Irish police) said one of the women is being treated for serious injuries.
The man and the other woman sustained injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening, gardaí said
An Garda Síochána said investigations remain ongoing and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Shock in the town
Independent councillor Tom Conaghan told BBC News NI that both himself and local people were shocked by the incident on Wednesday.
He said the town is incredibly busy at this time of year with many bars and restaurants in the town centre full of people.
"There would be a lot of tour busses here at the minute, the town is packed with tourists and locals out enjoying the good weather," he said.
Mr Conaghan said his thoughts are with the three people injured at this time.
