The M20 towards Dover has reopened after partially closing on Thursday due to Storm Ciarán.

The southbound carriageway was shut between junctions 8 and 9 to allow freight vehicles heading towards mainland Europe to queue on the motorway, a procedure known as Operation Brock.

Ferries were suspended for several hours on Thursday because of adverse weather conditions.

Kent Police and the Kent Resilience Forum (KRF) thanked "everyone for their patience whilst the closure was in place".
