A man has been taken to hospital after being found unconscious in a flat fire in Jersey.
Jersey Fire and Rescue said the smell of smoke and an alarm sounding at the terrace property in St Helier was reported at about 20:30 BST on Saturday.
The fire service said crews entered the building, which was made up of three flats, through a window and found the man inside a smoke-filled room.
He was rescued and immediately given first aid before being taken to hospital by paramedics, they added.
The fire crews put out a fire in the cooking area of the property.
"This serves as a reminder of the dangers of leaving cooking unattended," said watch commander Richard Ryan.
"Even a small fire can develop quickly and lead to serious smoke inhalation or damage."
Mr Ryan said the working smoke alarm inside the property "made a real difference" in this case, as it alerted people who then called the fire service.
However, he warned firefighters had difficulty getting to the scene due to vehicles parked in restricted areas.
"It's vital that access routes are kept clear at all times so crews can reach emergencies without delay."
