More than 60 people have objected to the development in Great Witley

Planning officers have recommended the approval of plans to build up to 90 new homes in a Worcestershire village.

Developers Bloor Homes want to build the housing estate on land south of Stourport Road in Great Witley.

More than 60 people raised concerns about the size of the development and its limited access to public transport, while local parish councils objected to the plans.

However, the county's highways authority had no objections, with Bloor Homes adding that 40% of the properties would be affordable homes for rent, shared ownership or first homes.

Great Witley Parish Council said the development would "diminish the availability of healthcare" and would be "detrimental to the wellbeing of residents".

“The answer to housing shortages cannot simply be a matter of building more, quite often developer-led and very often in the wrong places," Abberley Parish Council added.

Malvern Hills District Council's planning committee will make a decision on the proposals on 5 June.
