A council in Surrey is set to discuss plans for improved facilities at a local shopping centre.

On Tuesday, an executive meeting at Surrey Heath Borough Council (SHBC) will discuss proposed improvements at The Square shopping centre, in Camberley.

The suggested development includes a new café area and kiosks in the central square of the centre.

SHBC said the proposed work would add to the "attractiveness and vibrancy" of The Square.

The council said the proposed works could last up to two months and will involve an upgrade to the electricity supply, new drainage and mall flooring.

Three storage areas would also be created on the first floor of the centre.

SHBC said the works would help "futureproof" the central square of the shopping centre to attract local enterprises and national retailers.

The council hoped the improvements would bring "new investment into the borough".
