Plan lodged to convert house for vulnerable kids

A company has applied to turn a house into a children's home for vulnerable young people.

Planning permission is needed to convert the Newtown Road property in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire, to house five children aged 11-18.

If approved by Huntingdonshire District Council, the home would provide care for children with learning disabilities and other complex needs.

Linden Lodge Property Ltd, who submitted the plans, said it would help meet a national and local need for quality and accessible care facilities.

Planning documents said: "The care home will provide a safe, nurturing environment for children with learning disabilities and other complex needs, enabling them to grow and develop within a supportive community.

"Local placements reduce disruption to children's lives, allowing them to maintain connections with their schools, friends, and families.

"The care home will create job opportunities for local residents, including carers, support staff, and administrative roles."

Local Democracy Reporting Service reported that the company said the home would be registered and regulated by Ofsted, adding that activities and supervised outings would help children integrate into the area.
