Friends and family have paid their final respects to a 20-year-old man who died on holiday.

Tyler Kerry, of Basildon, Essex, was on his first family holiday abroad when he was found dead at the bottom of a hotel lift-shaft in Turkey in November.

Paying tribute to her grandson ahead of the funeral in Pitsea, grandmother Collette Kerry said they were still searching for answers over the incident.

"The house is not the same without him, he filled that house with laughter and fun, we will forever miss him," she added.

In a statement in December, the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey said it had investigated the case "meticulously" and described Mr Kerry as having fallen from a height.

At the time, Mrs Kerry told the BBC she was "absolutely disgusted" with the police investigation and conclusion, and believed Mr Tyler had been murdered.

The family is working with advocacy group Justice Abroad, which helps people navigate law enforcement issues overseas.

The results of a private autopsy are expected in the next few weeks.
