The jury in the trial of a Devon and Cornwall Police officer accused of sex offences has been discharged and the case adjourned until January.
PC Matthew Tregale, 35, who is suspended from the force, is accused of multiple sexual offences.
PC Tregale denies all 14 charges - including attempted rape, false imprisonment and sexual activity with a child.
The judge has ordered an independent review of the evidence to establish whether it is possible for a trial to resume with a new jury.
PC Tregale has been released on bail.
