Hundreds of young people are set to play alongside rugby world champions during rare training sessions.

South Africa's team, also known as the Springboks, will be based at Jersey Rugby Club from 28 October to 3 November, with an open session at 10:30 BST on 2 November.

A youth camp is also scheduled to take place from 29 to 31 October.

Chief executive at Jersey Sport David Kennedy said: "It is incredible to be welcoming the Springboks. We are delighted to be able to provide an opportunity for so many local school children to go along and see them up close."

"Through our partnership with the Government of Jersey, we hope the youngsters will be inspired to try the sport, become more physically active, and even aspire to become one of the sporting heroes of the future," he added.

More than 1,500 tickets have been sold to the open training session, and the youth camp is nearing capacity.
