Twenty firefighters have tackled what they called a severe fire at a flat in a three-storey block in Walsall.

They were called to the first floor home at Saldavian Court, Slaney Road, Pleck shortly after midnight on Friday.

The only person inside had managed to get out when they arrived and there were no reports of injuries but the flat was totally damaged by the fire and smoke, West Midlands Fire Service said.

The fire was thought to have been started by an e-bike, they added and their crews left the scene shortly after 02:00 BST.
