A prolific thief who stole thousands of pounds worth of clothes from shops in Nottingham has been jailed for 19 months.

Callum Northage, 27, was also banned from the city centre for three years when he was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday.

He had pleaded guilty to two burglaries, five shop thefts, one count of fraud by false representation and another count of theft from a person.

Judge Nirmal Shant KC told the court Northage's "catalogue of offending" had to be viewed in the context of his previous misdemeanours, which included 65 offences of theft or similar between 2017 and 2022.

Northage twice raided the Blacks store in Nottingham

Northage, of Main Road, Wilford, pleaded guilty to four offences at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on 26 September.

The first of these related to 23 July, when he stole a backpack from a man at Meadows Embankment Tram Stop which included a smartphone, £20 in cash and work equipment.

He pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation after using another person's bank card to purchase goods to the value of £35.75 at Trent Stores in Sweet Leys Road on 30 July.

On 26 and 30 August, Northage stole goods from Cooperative stores in Wilford Lane worth £36 and Bridgford Road, West Bridgford, worth £35 respectively.

He went on to plead guilty to five further charges at the same court on 18 October.

Northage twice targetted Blacks in Wheeler Gate on 5 September and 17 September, smashing a window on both occasions.

The first burglary saw about £500 worth of clothing stolen, while the second saw goods taken with a total value of £1,858.

On 14 September, Northage walked out of the JD Sports at Riverside Retail Park wearing a £150 jacket he had not paid for.

He also shoplifted on two occasions from Metro Fashion in Middle Pavement on 9 and 13 October, stealing a £1,200 coat and other items worth £410.

Judge Shant described Northage's offending history as "considerable".

She issued a Criminal Behaviour Order, which prohibits Northage from entering the city centre for three years.
