Man facing attempted murder charge after stabbing

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed at a house in Staffordshire.

Police were called just after 01.10 GMT on Saturday to reports of a burglary at a property on Congleton Road in Biddulph.

The accused, Jordan Williamson, 31, from Congleton, appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Monday and was remanded into custody.

He is due to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 14 April.

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head, chest and back but had since been discharged, police said.

Mr Williamson has also been charged with assault by beating, affray, assault by beating of an emergency worker, possession of a knife in a public place and two counts of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress.
