An eight-year-old girl who has a role in the film adaption of Richard Osman's hit crime novel The Thursday Murder Club has said it was "really fun".

Everly, from Spencers Wood in Wokingham, Berkshire, had several auditions before getting the part of "little girl on the bus".

She went to Shepperton studios for wardrobe, hair and make-up and filmed in Berkshire's Englefield House alongside Dame Helen Mirren and Celia Imrie.

Everly has not seen the film yet but is attending the cast and crew screening on Saturday.

Everly remembers the moment her mum, Louise, told her she had got the part.

"I auditioned for it for a kid's agency... and then on the way home from school mummy was out the car and she was like 'you've got it! you've got it'." she said.

Louise said she was "crying".

"I was on my way to work so my husband picked her up from school and I said 'you've got to meet me halfway somewhere, because I've just got a call from the agent to say she got the job'." she said.

"I was like 'I need to see her reaction and face. I don't want to wait and not tell her'."

Everly's part involved doing a scene with Oscar winner Helen Mirren and Bridget Jones's Diary actress Celia Imrie.

"I'm a little girl on the bus and I basically look up because they say a bad word." she said.

She said she recognised the pair as soon as she saw them.

"They were really kind." she said.

"I saw Celia in the hair and make up room. She was getting her hair done and then I saw Helen Mirren in her trailer and then we got photos with them."

But Everly said her personal highlight was having her own trailer with "little girl on the bus" written on it.

"My favourite part was the little mini fridge because I never have a mini fridge at home." she said.

Both Louise and Everly said they were looking forward to seeing the film on Saturday.

"I'll be like - 'that's me!'." said Everly.
