A man has been sentenced to 22 years in prison after being found guilty of child sexual offences committed during the 1980s.

Stefon Winter, 73, was convicted at two separate trials, one involving two indecent assaults of a five-year-old girl and another involving five sexual offences against a 13-year-old boy.

Winter, formerly of Goatacre near Calne in Wiltshire, was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on Thursday after trials in March 2024 and July of this year.

Det Con Chris McLoughlin of Wiltshire Police said the conviction served as "an important reminder that justice can still be served years after any abuse".

"Winter has shown no remorse. He has been free for most of the intervening years to lead his own life," he added.

Det Con McLoughlin commended the survivors and said they should be "immensely proud of their fortitude and conduct".

"I hope the result provides some closure, from which they can move forward with their lives and families," he added.

Due to the time period of the offending, Winter was convicted under the legislation covering this time period.
