Crews have been tackling a fire in a laundry room at Luton Town Football Club - but the incident will not affect their crunch game at home to Coventry City on Saturday.
Pictures shared on social media appeared to show firefighters faced with black smoke billowing from inside the Kenilworth Road stadium.
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 20:08 BST and the fire was put out in less than two hours.
Crews remained on the scene and a full road closure was still in place on Hatters Way.
"Smoke was found to be coming from a small appliance that had caught fire in the stadium's laundry room, which was contained within that area and has been dealt with swiftly to prevent any substantial damage," the club said.
Firefighters said they wore breathing apparatus and used an aerial platform, a 9m (30ft) ladder and two hose reels during the incident.
The Hatters are due to host Coventry City at 12:30 BST on Saturday in a match of huge significance for both ends of the Championship table.
The club said the match would go ahead as planned.
Luton moved to Kenilworth Road - known by fans as The Kenny - in 1905. It currently has about 12,000 seats.
