Police name man fatally stabbed at student flats

A man in his thirties who was fatally stabbed in accommodation housing students and professionals has been named by police.

Ucheena Okirie, known as Uche, 33, was found with a knife wound at Somerleyton House, on Somerleyton Street, Norwich, on Saturday.

Norfolk Police said his next of kin in Nigeria have been informed of his death.

Benjamin Katabana, 27, of Somerleyton Street, Norwich, has been charged with murder and appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday.

A post-mortem examination indicated Mr Okirie's cause of death was a stab wound to the chest.

Mr Katabana, who Norfolk Police said was a Congolese national, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Norwich Crown Court on 30 January for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
