A man has admitted killing a pedestrian in a hit-and-run crash in Stoke-on-Trent.
Leon Salt, 21, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving after 51-year-old Christopher Deaville died at the scene of the crash on Newcastle Lane, Penkhull, on 11 April.
Mr Deaville was crossing the road at about 21:00 BST when he was struck by a black Mini Cooper driven by Salt, who was overtaking another car at speed, Staffordshire Police said.
Salt, of Bilton Street, Stoke-on-Trent, drove away from the scene and the damaged Mini, which had false plates, was found dumped in an alleyway.
Police said he handed himself in on 14 April after officers put out an appeal for information.
During Monday's hearing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Salt also admitted handling stolen goods, assault on an emergency worker, escape from lawful custody and dangerous driving.
Det Insp Laura Agu of Staffordshire Police said: "I'm pleased that we've been able to secure closure for Christopher's family and friends after such a horrific incident."
Salt has been remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 3 October.
