A "brazen" burglar who was caught on CCTV carrying a stolen TV down a city street before claiming he had bought it from a friend has been sentenced three years later.

Kirk Bradley, 34, was pictured on CCTV hauling the smart TV after stealing it from a home in Melrose Street in Sherwood, Nottingham, at 10:30 BST on 21 September 2022.

Nottinghamshire Police said Bradley invited himself into the home before taking hundreds of pounds worth of electrical items, including a PlayStation 4, an Xbox, and two Samsung smart phones.

Bradley pleaded guilty to burglary in August this year and received an 18-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday.

The force said Bradley insisted he had bought the stolen TV for a friend and "maintained" his lies for three years "despite the mounting evidence against him".

He was identified from the CCTV footage and one of his fingerprints was also found near the back door where he broke in, police said.

Bradley, of Clipstone Road West, Forest Town, pleaded guilty on 8 August, just before his trial was due to start.

At sentencing, he was also ordered to complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and to pay a victim surcharge.

Det Con Richard Evans said: "While he may have technically pleaded guilty to this burglary, Bradley only did so after years of denying he'd done anything wrong.

"Despite CCTV footage clearly showing him carrying a large TV he'd just stolen down the street, he always claimed he'd bought it from a friend.

"This was all a lie, with Bradley instead helping himself to hundreds of pounds worth of electrical items after breaking into a nearby property.

"In addition to the footage of him brazenly carrying the TV down the road, we were also able to connect him to the offence through a fingerprint he left at the scene."
