A driver has been arrested after a pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash in Cornwall, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said it was called to the incident at School Hill in Padstow at about 20:30 GMT on Saturday.

A pedestrian, a man in his 60s, suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to hospital.

The force said a woman, 71, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and driving whilst unfit through drink.

The woman has been released on bail and inquiries are ongoing.

The force has urged any witnesses to the incident, which involved a grey Honda Jazz, to get in touch.
