A man who raped a woman in her own home has been jailed for eight years.
Shaun Bundy, 41, went to the Wiltshire home of his victim in May 2023. He asked for a drink of water, but when he got inside he raped her and left, ordering her not to tell anyone.
He was found guilty of rape following a re-trial at Winchester Crown Court and was sentenced on Thursday. Bundy, from Nunney near Frome, in Somerset, will also be on the Sex Offenders register for life.
Det Sgt Toni Nugent, of Wiltshire Police, noted the woman's bravery, adding: "Not only did she come forward to make the report but Bundy then forced her to go through a trial twice despite the forensic evidence."
The woman reported the incident to the police shortly after and Bundy was arrested.
In interview, he denied the offence, claiming he had been to the address but there was no sexual contact.
His DNA was found during forensic examination, but he continued to deny it when re-interviewed.
Wiltshire Police said the woman had to go through the court process twice when the first trial ended with a hung jury.
Det Sgt Nugent added: "I am pleased that after a court process lasting for more than two years for the victim, Bundy has now been jailed for his crime."
As well as being sentenced to eight years imprisonment Bundy will spend an extended five years on licence.
