Arrest after cyclist seriously hurt near landmark

A man has been arrested following a crash which left a cyclist seriously injured.

The incident happened at about 11:50 BST on Wednesday near the Steam Clock on New North Quay in St Helier.

Jersey Police said a vehicle and bicycle collided, and the cyclist was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The force added that the man driving the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has been released pending further investigation.

An appeal for witnesses has been issued by police, with officers keen to locate another cyclist who was believed to be in the area at the time.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.
