The first batch of flowers from the UK has arrived in Jersey for the 2024 Battle of Flowers parades.

The three-day event will get underway next Friday, 9 August and will include floats, music and activities for all ages.

Jersey Cheshire Home - a residential home for adults with disabilities - is also getting involved by adding lights to the residents' wheelchairs, who will be wearing party outfits as they participate in the parades.

One of the first teams to get its flowers is the Northern Parishes Battle Association, consisting of St Martin, St John, and Trinity.

Collette Bisson, the association’s chair, said members were excited to showcase their first float.

She said: "We are looking forward to the battle - it's the first float we have put together as a combined association.

"We have lots of enthusiastic people, especially juniors, but we always welcome more helpers if anybody else wants to come along."
