A man has been arrested after reports of someone firing an arrow from a property.

Armed police officers responded to concerns someone had fired a crossbow in Bedminster Parade, Bristol, on Saturday afternoon into the adjacent Stillhouse Lane.

The officers arrested the man at about 16:10 BST, and seized a weapon that turned out to be a longbow and arrows.

The man has since been released from custody pending further inquiries, police said.

Some surrounding roads were closed for around an hour, but started to reopen after 17:00 BST.

Police are asking anyone who may have captured footage of the incident to get in touch.
