CCTV footage has been released after a child was taken to hospital following a serious collision.

Norfolk Police said the incident happened on the A134 Brandon Road in Thetford, at about 18:50 BST on Monday when a white Skoda was involved in a collision with a pedestrian and failed to stop at the scene.

The pedestrian, a young child, was taken to West Suffolk Hospital and then transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where they remain in a serious but stable condition.

The police force has now released an image of the car they believe was involved which Sgt Ben Hawkins hoped would help the investigation.

"The white Skoda involved is quite distinctive with its black roof and black alloy wheels," he explained.

"We hope that by releasing this image it will prompt people with information, or the driver themselves, to come forward."

Sgt Hawkins added that CCTV footage the force had seen showed two other cars, a blue Ford Fiesta and a grey Volkswagen Golf, travelling behind the Skoda.

"We would really like to speak to the drivers of these vehicles as they may have information which would be helpful to our investigation," he added.

At the time of the collision the white vehicle was reported to be travelling towards the crossroads with the Chase pub from the direction of the A11, Canterbury Way.

The road was reopened at about 19:40.

Norfolk Police said it would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a white vehicle in the area at the time of the collision driving erratically or with visible damage.
