Heritage open days to return next month
- Published
Behind the scenes access to the Isle of Man's natural history and national art collections are among the behind-the-scenes events in a series of open days.
A programme of walks, talks and displays is set to take place over two weekend in October as part of an annual series of Heritage Open Days.
Organised by Manx National Heritage (MNH), the series brings together public, private and charitable sectors to provide free public access to buildings and displays.
MNH executive director Connie Lovel said the series had become a "celebration of the island’s built and natural heritage" as well as Manx culture.
"The event originally started on the Island with the idea of opening places that were normally hidden from view or difficult to access", she added.
The programme for the 15th year of the series includes talks on conserving objects and curating the Isle of Man TT Gallery, as well as access to the work underway in curating the forthcoming Archbald Knox exhibition due to go on display in 2025.
Other events include tours of Douglas City Hall, Government House, Gaiety Theatre, King William's College, Golden Meadow Mill and the Isle of Man Railways workshops.
The series of events is set to be held from 4 to 6 October and 11 to 13 October.
The full programme of events, which are free to attend, is available online and at Manx National Heritage sites island-wide.
