Murder arrest after man found unresponsive dies

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of another man in Rotherham.

The victim, aged 54, was found unresponsive on Waddington Way in Parkgate at about 06:45 BST on Sunday, according to South Yorkshire Police.

Despite attempts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at the scene, a force spokesperson confirmed.

A 53-year-old man remains in police custody.

The victim's family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.

Det Ch Insp Anna Sedgwick said officers were "working at pace to piece together the circumstances behind this incident".

"We have a cordon in place and there will be additional patrols in the area for community reassurance."

Police have urged anyone with information about the man's death to get in touch.
