An investigation is set to begin after a fire which saw flames and smoke rising from the top floor of a domestic property in Hove.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) said it was called to Egmont Road at about 19:00 BST on Saturday, with six fire engines in attendance at the height of the blaze.

Local residents were advised to close windows and doors, and members of the public were asked to avoid the area while crews worked at the scene.

ESFRS said Sussex Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended.

A fire service spokesperson said crews had since left.
