An ambulance has been left damaged after a group climbed onto a railway line and threw rocks at it.

They accessed the railway line adjacent to South Central Ambulance Service's North Harbour Resource Centre in Cosham, Portsmouth, at 01:15 BST on Tuesday, Hampshire police said.

The force said the group of males threw rocks at the station, cracking the ambulance's windscreen, before entering the station site and attempting to gain access to the building.

They ran away when challenged by a SCAS employee, police said.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary is asking for anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward.
