The railway line between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury has been closed due to a landslip in the Oakengates area.

National Rail said it was first reported at 10:28 GMT, adding the line was expected to stay shut until the end of the day.

Transport for Wales laid on coaches between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton, while fellow operator West Midlands Railway said its tickets could be used on National Express and Arriva bus routes.

A spokesperson for Birmingham New Street station warned of severe disruption to services.
