Gorse fire on Devon moors seen for miles

A fire could be seen on the hillside

A gorse fire that took hold on Exmoor could be seen from miles away on Sunday.

Combe Martin Fire Station said crews were sent to the area in the evening to put out the blaze.

The fire was between Hangman Hills and Holdstone Down.

The service said crews worked "quickly to locate, extinguish and eliminate fire spread".

"We managed to navigate the tricky terrain and use hand tools effectively for a quick stop," it added.
