Road closed after pedestrian badly hurt in crash

A main road into Castleford has been closed in both directions after a pedestrian was hit by a car.
West Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a pedestrian suffering a serious injury on the A656 Barnsdale Road shortly before 15:00 GMT on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the force said investigations remained ongoing at the scene and the road had been closed.
Traffic information service Inrix said the closure was in place between the turnings for Mill Lane and Station Road. The Yorkshire Ambulance Service is also at the scene.
