Residents in west Kent still have no access to water as efforts continue to repair a burst water pipe.

South East Water said it was "sorry" after the burst pipe caused significant flooding and damaged critical equipment at one of its water treatment stations.

The incident happened on Saturday evening, impacting residents in Kings Hill, Wateringbury, Yalding, West Kingdsown, Borough Green, Hadlow and Five Oak Green, affecting about 7,000 properties.

The company said its team was working "non-stop" to repair the damage, adding that it did not have a completion time for the repairs.

A spokesperson said: "Bottled water is being delivered direct to anyone who medically needs water or who is unable to travel.

"Our teams worked throughout Saturday night and will continue today, repairing equipment which has been significantly damaged by flooding following a burst pipe at one of our water treatment works in west Kent."

The water company said it had set up two bottled water stations - one at Asda in Kings Hill, and a second at West Kingsdown Library & Village Hall.
