Back to the future plan for pub refurbishment

The Bridge's owners have applied to revert to the black-and-white exterior of its former years

The new owner of a historic Shropshire pub has given details of planned refurbishments, including a return to its traditional black-and-white appearance.
The Grade II listed Bridge Inn, on Chetwynd End in Newport, was taken over by Rowton Brewery of Wellington earlier this year and closed for repairs.
Planning documents detail renovations to the roof and chimney, described as "essential to safeguard the building's historic fabric".
The building has been licensed since 1747 and Telford & Wrekin Council has been told the defects are "urgent", with work needed to prevent water getting in.
The documents say, external repainting in the pub's former colours would reinforce its "visual harmony" with other historic buildings in Newport's conservation area.
New signs would give the pub, which has historic associations to Newport's medieval mill pool, a refreshed identity", they add.

The new interior would also feature an entrance lobby
Work is also proposed inside the building, including a new front lobby to keep the heat in.
The company is additionally proposing to install built-in timber booths with leather seats in the front section of the pub.
The plans will be considered by the council in due course.
