A man in his 60s has died in a fire in Saltdean

A man has died in a fire at a block of flats in Saltdean.

Emergency services were called to Bannings Vale on Thursday morning after reports of smoke.

An investigation is under way after the man, who was in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sussex Police said: "At this time, there is nothing to suggest it was suspicious."

East Sussex Fire and Rescue service attended and used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to put out the fire.

No other properties were damaged.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch.
