A man has been charged with violent disorder after clashes between protestors and police in Bristol.

James Maine, 44, from Kingswood, will appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court later.

Avon and Somerset Police said 48 people have so far been arrested, with 35 having been charged, in connection with the unrest on 3 August, which happened when two groups of protesters gathered near Castle Park.

Demonstrations took place across England after three young girls were killed in Southport, Merseyside, on 29 July.
