Talk show host and Celebrity Traitors star Jonathan Ross visited a girls' football team and surprised them with a message from England Lioness Chloe Kelly.

Ross spent two hours with the under-11s at Swanage Town and Herston Football Club in Dorset on Thursday evening.

He talked to the players and their parents and signed merchandise, including a Traitors board game, which the club hopes to sell at an upcoming fundraising event.

Jessyca Levitt, the new secretary for the club, said "he was a genuinely really nice guy" who had reached out to Kelly ahead of the visit to send a video to the girls.

"The girls really enjoyed it," she said.

Adding that people obviously had a lot of questions about Celebrity Traitors, which Ross "politely declined" to answer.

Sabrina Ramsay, whose husband Wesley is the coach for the team and whose daughter plays for them, reached out to Ross on social media.

"I couldn't believe it," she said when he said he would visit.

The team of 16 girls is fundraising for new equipment, to make the sport accessible to all, regardless of circumstances.

Mrs Ramsay said they are looking to arrange "a boot swap" for those players who are unable to afford a pair.

She said: "Some of the children have special needs, some are young carers and some have lost parents."

Mrs Ramsay said the fact that Ross gave them some time "was amazing" and the girls were "overwhelmed".

"They've gone to school today absolutely buzzing," she said.

She added the celeb said he has a holiday home in the area and likes to keep an eye on Swanage Facebook groups.
