People in Preston have returned to houses which were evacuated when police searched a house and found "potentially explosive material".
The evacuation followed a planned search at a property in Cottam Avenue, in the Ingol area, at about 14:00 BST on Wednesday, where officers found "items of concern".
Lancashire Police said an 18-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of offences under the Explosives Act and is being questioned.
Army bomb disposal found a number of homemade firework-type devices described as far beyond the size of those used in organised displays. The items were made safe and removed from the area.
Ch Supt Chris Hardy said: "The devices found were improvised firework types of some power, which potentially were very dangerous."
