The main route between the north of the Isle of Man and the capital has reopened after being closed for more than two hours following a crash.

The A18 Mountain Road was shut between Ramsey Hairpin and the Bungalow shortly before 07:00 GMT on Wednesday.

The Isle of Man Constabulary said the driver of the vehicle had received medical treatment, but no further details about the crash were released.

Manx Care confirmed the injured person was continuing to receive treatment.

Police previously said the road would remain closed until 11:00, but it was reopened ahead of schedule.

Efforts had been made to "recover the vehicle as soon as possible", the force added.

The early morning closure led to commuter traffic being diverted onto other routes, including the Ramsey Coast Road.
