Free day party to unite music, culture and families

Free music event Old City Sounds is set to takeover some of Bristol's most popular venues this Saturday.
Spread across iconic buildings such as The Old Duke and Bristol Old Vic, the event will host performances in genres from jazz and blues to funk, as well as family activities.
The festival is being organised by the Bristol City Centre Business Improvement District (BID).
BID's director Vicky Lee said: "Not only will the event showcase the great musical talents in our city, it will also showcase the wide range of venues Bristol has to offer."
Landlord at The Old Duke Stewart Seydel said the venue's Jazz festival has been running since the early 80s, when then-landlord John Stone held it on the back of a beer delivery lorry.
Ms Lee said the event was "the perfect way to bring music, culture and family together in one big free day party".
"We’re excited to get people into these venues to celebrate the incredible talents our city holds," she added.
St Stephen’s Church will be a space for families, offering an array of workshops, crafts and performances, including sessions on circus skills, Bhangra dance, and African drumming.
Secret gigs will be taking place at the Bristol Old Vic at 14:00, 17:00 and 18:00 BST, and 6 O’clock Gin at the Glassboat will host DJs, curated by DJ booking agency, The Pool Agency.
Its director, Matthew Johnson, said that when travelling the world and working overseas, "the musical reputation and legacy of Bristol speaks far above and beyond the usual sharing of connections and breaking of bread".
